Attendance, Punctuality & Behaviour

Attendance & Behaviour Officer: Mrs D Brookes

Pastoral Team:  Mr D Sleaford, Mrs M Hague, Ms F Harriott, Mrs K Tabani, Mr J Hunter

Working in liaison with the Children and Young People’s Directorate (CYPD) Attendance and Inclusion Team, we monitor attendance and punctuality on a regular basis. Bradfield has always had a very good record in these areas, and with your help will continue to do so.

Regular and punctual attendance is absolutely essential if students are to benefit fully from their education at Bradfield. If students are not here, they cannot learn! It is, therefore, one of the most important areas where we look to parents to give us their support.

What the school expects of our students:
• To attend regularly and on time
• To arrive on time properly prepared for the day and for lessons (equipment, bag, planner, homework etc.)
• To report to the Attendance Officer Mrs Brookes if they arrive after 8:40am or 1:05pm
• To inform their Form Tutor of any known problem that will prevent them from attending school at any future time
• To sign out at Student Enquiries if they have official permission to do so
• Not to truant!

What the school expects of parents:
• To fulfil their responsibility by ensuring that their children attend school whenever possible
• To ensure they contact Mrs. Brookes on the first day if their child is unable to attend and that their son/daughter returns to school with a note explaining the full period of absence
• To contact the Form Tutor whenever any problem or essential appointment occurs that may keep their child away from school
• To seek authorisation for any holiday to be taken during school time
• To ensure the continuity of their child’s education by taking holidays and arranging appointments outside the school day whenever possible
• To ensure that their child arrives on time and is properly prepared for the day (equipment, bag, planner, homework etc.)

What parents and students can expect of the school:
• A broad and balanced education that is dependent upon regular attendance at school
• The encouragement and promotion of good attendance and punctuality
• Regular, efficient and accurate recording of attendance
• First day contact with parents when their child fails to attend school without providing good reason
• Prompt action on any problems notified by parents or identified by the school
• Close liaison with the CYPD’s Access and Inclusion Team (AIT) and police to assist and support parents and students where needed

Code of Conduct:

The following rules apply at all times:

• Follow instructions
• Speak politely
• Respect the environment and each other

In addition, this rule applies in lessons:
• Do your best
