Besease Partner School

Besease School & Village

- Mr Thomas Ashworth, Subject Leader for Art & Drama, Bradfield School

These photographs are of Besease School and village and the people and children who live there.  Besease lies in the bush, north of the main coastal road between Cape Coast and Takoradi in the Central Region of Ghana, West Africa, and I had the privilege and good fortune to live and teach there in the summer of 2007.

Besease Village has a population of about 2000 people and supports a school of some 600 students from 3 - 16 years old.  Education throughout Ghana is free but the school itself is poorly funded and resources are scarce.  Bradfield School is hoping to set up a long term partnership scheme with Besease and, to that end, most of our fundraising activities this year will be directed towards helping the children and our teaching colleagues at Besease.
