Homework (MFL)

Homework is an important part of the work pupils do as it is an opportunity to revisit and consolidate language and is set every week for all pupils.

Key Stage 3

Pupils at KS3 will usually be given one written and one learning homework a fortnight.  Pupils have a workbook for French which will support them in their homework; they may be asked to learn from it or do activities in it.  If a pupil loses their workbook they will be expected to replace it at their own expense (currently £2.50).

Key Stage 4

At KS4 pupils will be given significantly more homework to ensure they are fully prepared for their GCSE or NVQ.  They will often receive written homework each week.  Pupils are expected to learn new language regularly so that they can make appropriate progress.   They are unlikely to achieve their potential if they do not do this as the amount of language covered is difficult to learn during a final revision programme.  They may also find the courses difficult to follow without firm language foundations.

Spanish GCSE

From September 2007 we are introducing a new structure to homework for Spanish GCSE.  Each pupil will receive a series of booklets focussing on the language content of each unit and the skills they need to develop.  These booklets will also be available shortly for students to download from this webpage.

As part of our commitment to improve our provision for students, any feedback you would like to give us in relation to these booklets would be greatly appreciated.

French GCSE

Pupils starting this course in September 2007 will have a workbook to support their learning and homework.
