Trips Abroad

The Modern Languages Department offers a range of international experiences to Bradfield pupils. These may vary from year to year, as the Languages Department is constantly trying to develop and improve linguistic and cultural opportunities.

Year 8 Trip to Paris

In July we organise a 5 day trip to Paris. This is an exciting cultural residential experience where we visit the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, The Louvre, Les Invalides, Versailles, Disneyland and other major Parisian landmarks. This trip has been running successfully for 4 years.

Year 9 Christmas Day Trip to Lille

Last year we took a day trip to the Christmas markets in Lille, Northern France. Pupils were encouraged to speak French to buy souvenirs and food. In the future we hope to use the Eurostar link from St Pancras to offer a similar opportunity.

Year 9 & 10 Spanish exchange

We are in the process of setting up an exchange trip with a Spanish School near Alicante. This is a very exciting development which will give participating pupils an invaluable experience. We hope that pupils will be offered the opportunity to go and stay with an exchange partner and host them in return in 2008.

Year 10 & 11 Study Trip to Normandy

In October we organise a fascinating trip to the Château de Molay Littry in Normandy where we develop pupils French skills through interviewing local people as Young Reporters. We visit important historic sites of Second World War, the towns of Caen and Rouen and even a local baker’s where we learn how to make French bread. This trip has been running successfully for 5 years and many pupils take part in the trip in both Years 10 and 11.

Year 10 Work Experience in Amiens

Bradfield School takes part in the Sheffield Amiens Y10 Work Experience Exchange. This is a fantastic opportunity for the most adventurous and committed pupils to stay with a French family for 10 days in March whilst working in a French company. The hospitality is returned to a French pupil from Amiens in April.
